PRP PENILE INJECTION THERAPY FAQS
We’re sure you have questions, and we’re here to answer them! Below are some frequently asked questions that might help, but we’re also available via phone or email for anything that might be on your mind!
No. We apply local anesthetic prior to the procedure. During the PRP penile injection, you may feel some pressure that can be strange, but not necessarily painful. Most patients report a zero to two out of 10 on the pain scale.
A penis pump will be given to you to use 10 minutes twice daily for the six weeks following the procedure. This will ensure maximum stimulation to the penis, allowing the PRP penile injection to be more effective. In addition, your testosterone and all other hormones will be optimized, laying the foundation for sexual health. When needed, other medications will be considered to give you the best possible medical outcome.
For some, results from a PRP penile injection are experienced immediately. Most people will begin to see results within a few weeks, with maximum benefit after three full months.
For some men, the PRP injection can lead to noticeable increases in penis size. This occurs because ED and issues such as Peyronie’s disease can cause blood vessels to constrict and shrink. Penile PRP therapy stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and erectile tissue, boosting both length and girth.
While results can vary, many men report gains in girth and, in some cases, length — especially when combined with a vacuum pump or supplements. Whether you’re looking for penile enlargement or just stronger erections, the PRP shot for ED delivers impressive results.
After your PRP for erectile dysfunction treatment, you’ll enjoy firmer erections and enhanced sexual function for up to two years. For even longer-lasting results, additional PRP injections can be administered as needed. This ensures you maintain your progress and continue to experience the benefits.

Get Peyronies Disease Treatments in Sacramento
Schedule an evaluation and discuss treatment options
What is Peyronie's Disease?
Peyronie’s disease is the build up of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis that causes curved, painful or soft erections. The curvature of the penis is significant and interferes with enjoying sexual intercourse. Peyronie’s disease plaques or fibrous scar tissue typically form on the top of the penis. The plaques make the white fibrous capsule in the penis less flexible and may cause the erect penis to bend upwards. When plaques form on the bottom or side of the penis, the bend will be downward or sideways. Some men have more plaque, which may cause complex curves. It is important to see a Urologist if you are experiencing this so that you can get treatment for this.
What are the Symptoms of Peyronie's Disease?
- Penile Curvature
- Painful Erections
- Scar Tissue
- Tenderness
- Erectile Dysfunction
- Penile Shortening
- Difficulty during Sexual Intercourse
- Skin Thickening
What are Some of the Causes of Peyronie's Disease?
- Injury
- Genetics
- Connective Tissues Disorder
- Age
- Diabetes
- Prior Prostate Surgeries
More Information about Peyronie's Disease
Peyronies disease is estimated to impact 9-10% of all men. It may be under-reported due to men being embarrased to discuss it with their primary care provider.
What are the Benefits of Treating Peyronie's Disease?
- Early treatment can help prevent worsening
- reduce pain
- enhanced sexual functioning
- reduce self-consciousness
- improve confidence
- improve appearance
PEYRONIE’S DISEASE FAQS
We’re sure you have questions, and we’re here to answer them! Below are some frequently asked questions that might help, but we’re also available via phone or email for anything that might be on your mind!
Researchers estimate that Peyronie’s disease may affect 1 to 23 percent of men between 40 and 70 years of age. However, the actual occurrence of Peyronie’s disease may be higher due to men’s embarrassment and health care providers’ limited reporting. The disease is rare in young men, although it has been reported in men in their 30s. The chance of developing Peyronie’s disease increases with age.
Some men with Peyronie’s disease (about 13 out of 100) get fibrosis in other parts of the body. The most common sites are the hands and feet. Dupuytren’s contracture, in which fibrosis occurs in the tissue of the palm, is one health problem linked to Peyronie’s disease. Dupuytren’s contracture may lead to permanent bending of the outer fingers. It isn’t clear what causes plaque to form in either disease, or why men with Peyronie’s disease are more likely to get Dupuytren’s contracture.
Cells taken from Peyronie’s plaques act like cancer cells in some ways, such as not dying normally and forming tumors when put into mice with no immune systems. But there has never been a case of Peyronie’s disease that has turned into cancer in a human.
If you have other symptoms that aren’t often seen with Peyronie’s disease, such as external bleeding, trouble peeing, or penile pain that lasts for a long time, your health care provider may take a sample of the tissue (biopsy) for further study.
The following factors may increase a man’s chance of developing Peyronie’s disease:
- Vigorous sexual or nonsexual activities that cause microscopic injury to the penis
- Certain autoimmune and connective tissue disorders
- A family history of Peyronie’s disease
- General aging
- Diabetes-related erectile dysfunction
- Having had surgical treatments for prostate cancer

PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE REPAIR FAQS
We’re sure you have questions, and we’re here to answer them! Below are some frequently asked questions that might help, but we’re also available via phone or email for anything that might be on your mind!
- Prolapse is a hernia of the vagina that a woman may feel as a bulge or pressure. This is referred to in many different ways. Sometimes it is called a “dropped bladder”, “dropped uterus,” “dropped vagina,” or “dropped rectum.” Your doctor may have also called this a cystocele, rectocele, or enterocele.
Prolapse is caused by a weakening of the vaginal tissues. Prolapse is associated with pregnancy and childbirth. However, prolapse can happen in women who have never had children. Prolapse is also associated with repetitive heavy lifting, chronic constipation , chronic cough, and poor tissue.Prolapse symptoms may be worse at different times in the day. Some women notice that they feel more pressure after walking or standing for long periods of time.
Sometimes the vaginal tissue under the bladder becomes weak and causes a hernia. This is called prolapse. You may feel a bulge outside the vagina or pressure. Your doctor may also have called this condition a “cystocele.”
Will it get worse? Most likely. Prolapse, left untreated, almost always gets worse over time but this is usually a gradual change. “New” prolapse (noticed by a patient or doctor in the early postpartum period) will often get better within the first year after the delivery. This is one exception to the rule.
A pessary is a plastic device that can be used to help support prolapse. It is used for women who do not want surgery. Pessaries come in different shapes and sizes and can be fitted to help women with different degrees and types of prolapse. Pessaries are safe to use and are latex free.
Once you decide that you would like to try a pessary, you will be fitted for the correct size and shape to help support the prolapse without causing any discomfort or pain. The pessary that fits best will be able to support the prolapse, feel comfortable and allow you to urinate and have bowel movements without difficulty.
Remove your pessary to clean it on a regular basis. Most pessaries are easy to remove, clean and replace daily or weekly. Some pessaries are difficult to remove and require you to be seen in the doctor’s office for removal, cleaning and replacement. A pessary can be used for any woman who is bothered by her prolapse but does not want to have surgery or for women with other medical conditions that makes surgery more risky. Pessaries can be used for as long as the woman desires.

LABIAPLASTY FAQS
We’re sure you have questions, and we’re here to answer them! Below are some frequently asked questions that might help, but we’re also available via phone or email for anything that might be on your mind!
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, women usually require 4 days recovery time post-procedure and it is recommended to avoid any friction on the pubic region — the vagina, urethra, labia, clitoral hood — from sports or intimacy for 8-10 weeks post-op. Overall, there is minimal discomfort associated with this procedure and the sutures that are used dissolve on their own.
Labiaplasty can be performed under sedation anesthesia to avoid any pain, or it can be done in an exam room under local anesthesia, supervised by plastic surgeons.
Labiaplasty will not leave external scarring, which is why it is beneficial to have a board-certified plastic surgeon perform this procedure. We ensure that any incisions naturally fold into the creasing of the skin.
Like most surgical procedures, there is some initial numbing in the area where the incisions are made. This will fade over time.

Some people describe the sensation as similar to a gentle tapping or vibration, with very few reporting mild discomfort.

Most patients experience no significant adverse effects, though some may have mild redness or tenderness afterward.

ERECTIAL DYSFUNCTION FAQ’S
We’re sure you have questions, and we’re here to answer them! Below are some frequently asked questions that might help, but we’re also available via phone or email for anything that might be on your mind!
The persistent or recurrent inability to achieve or maintain an erection good enough to complete your chosen sexual activity satisfactorily, whether that’s masturbation, oral sex or vaginal or anal intercourse. The occasional inability to achieve a satisfactory erection doesn’t normally constitute a problem.
To diagnose erectile dysfunction, our doctors use a verbal questionnaire and a physical exam. However, if you have underlying health conditions, you might need a blood test or urine test to get an official diagnosis. Further testing, like a penile doppler ultrasound, might be performed to assess blood flow in the penis, providing critical information on vascular health. Additionally, reviewing your medical history can highlight potential contributing factors, such as medications or psychological conditions, essential for developing an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction at our ED clinic.

Erectile dysfunction affects men from various backgrounds and for a multitude of reasons. While age itself isn’t a cause of erectile dysfunction (ED), the risk nevertheless increases as you get older: 18% of 50-59-year-olds have trouble with their erections compared with 7% of 18-29-year-olds. However, it’s also possible for symptoms to start earlier. If you’re worried you’re starting to experience symptoms, reach out to a professional at our men’s erectile dysfunction clinic.
- There are two main causes of ED: physical and psychological. Most doctors agree that the majority of cases are physical but it’s also clear that many men with ED also quickly start to feel anxious, stressed or depressed. These feelings can easily make the symptoms of ED worse.
The main physical causes are:
- Diabetes. Up to 25% of all diabetic men aged 30-34 are affected by ED, as are 75% of diabetic men aged 60-64.
- Inadequate blood flow to the penis because arteries have got furred-up (a condition called atherosclerosis) or damaged. This causes about 40% of ED cases in men aged over 50. Smoking cigarettes, which is implicated in up to 80% of ED cases, constricts the blood vessels and is a major cause of damage to the arteries leading to the penis. One little-known cause of damage to key blood vessels is cycling.
- Regular heavy drinking. Alcohol can damage the nerves leading to the penis, reduce testosterone levels and increase levels of the female hormone estrogen.
- The side-effects of prescribed drugs, particularly those used to treat high blood pressure, heart disease, depression, peptic ulcers, and cancer. As many as 25% of ED cases may be caused by drugs taken to treat other conditions.
- Spinal cord injury. Almost a quarter of men with spinal injury are affected by ED.
- Prostate gland surgery (or other surgery around the pelvis). The risk of ED depends on the type of surgery, but up to 30% of men who have a radical prostatectomy (the complete removal of the gland affected by cancer) will experience ED.
The main psychological causes of ED are:
- Relationship conflicts
- Stress and anxiety
- Depression (90% of men affected by depression also have complete or moderate ED)
- Unresolved sexual orientation
- Sexual boredom
One way of working out whether your ED has a physical cause is to see whether there are any circumstances in which you get an erection. If you can produce one when masturbating but not with a partner, wake up with an erection, or have erections during the night, then there’s a good chance that your ED has psychological causes.
Erectile dysfunction doesn’t last for a specific period of time and its duration often depends on the cause. Some men experience temporary ED due to stress, anxiety, or certain medications, which may be resolved with lifestyle changes or addressing the underlying cause. Chronic or long-term ED might continue due to health conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or hormonal imbalances. Some ED clinic patients may experience symptoms for years, while others find that their symptoms subside after a few weeks or months with the right ED solutions..
Erectile dysfunction isn’t necessarily permanent because it can be the result of various factors such as stress, medication side effects, health conditions, or lifestyle choices. Most cases of ED are treatable with lifestyle changes, medication, therapy, or medical procedures. ED treatments will depend on the underlying cause, so it’s important to consult a professional for help. With proper intervention, the right ED solutions, and the guidance of our erectile dysfunction clinic, many men experience improvement in their symptoms.
Improving overall health can help prevent erectile dysfunction. Quitting smoking and drinking alcohol in moderation will help. Regular aerobic exercise and a low-fat diet will also reduce the risks of atherosclerosis. If you have diabetes, ensure it’s properly controlled.
– Yes. Get help and advice as soon as you notice a problem. This isn’t only important in terms of getting treatment for your ED: your struggle could also be a symptom of other potentially serious conditions (such as diabetes or heart disease).
One study of 50 men with ED who had sought prescriptions for Viagra found that although none of them had any symptoms of heart disease, six were found to have blockages in all three major heart arteries, seven had two arteries that showed narrowing and one artery was blocked in another seven. Overall, 40% of the men were at significant risk of angina or a heart attack.
If you are on treatment for a medical or psychiatric problem and you think that this treatment is affecting your sex life, tell your doctor. Alternative treatments that may have less likelihood of affecting sexual function are often available.
If your doctor doesn’t take your problem seriously, ask to be referred to a specialist. Don’t let yourself be fobbed off with comments like, “What do you expect at your age?”
At Golden State Urology, we offer personalized solutions that go beyond prescription drugs. Our erectile dysfunction treatment clinic ensures that your erectile dysfunction care is tailored to you.
Yes, seeing a urologist for ED can help you diagnose and treat the problem. Urologists specialize in male reproductive and urinary health, offering expertise in addressing ED through medication, lifestyle changes, or procedures.
There are ED surgery options available for patients with severe cases. One option is a penile prosthesis, which is a small device that is inserted into the penis and can help it create an erection. Patients who have experienced ED as a result of traumatic injury can also undergo microsurgical penile revascularization as an ED solution. This procedure connects the blood vessels in the penis and lower abdomen, increasing blood flow to the reproductive system.
