Symptoms of urologic cancers can vary in men or women depending on the cancer and its location but some common signs in men can include:

• blood in the urine
• swelling or a lump in the testicles
• ed
• changes in urination habits
• pain in the lower abdomen or back

For women symptoms can include:

• blood in the urine
• burning urination
• more frequent urination
• a lump in the abdomen
• pain in the lower back or abdomen
• extreme fatigue
• growth or lumps in the genital region

Prostate cancer is the most common urologic cancer with approximately 300,000 cases a year and a 10% mortality rate. Bladder cancer is the number one urologic cancer in women, and is estimated to cause around 83,190 new cases and 16,840 deaths annually, with a 5-year relative survival rate of 78.4%. Kidney cancer is twice as common in men as in women with over 80,000 cases per year with a 5-year relative survival rate of approximatley 78%. Other urologic cancers include Testicular cancer which is a particular concerning issue ammong younger men aged 14-35 and Urethral cancers which are considered rare making up approximately 1% of all cancers.
