As we age, the body changes and bears the signs of aging. In particular, the effects of aging are seen and felt for women—especially those who have gone through the process of childbirth. Women who have multiple children experience magnified effects.
Have you experienced changes in your vaginal health since menopause? Do you know that as many as 50% postmenopausal women suffer from changes in vaginal health?
Vaginal Rejuvenation addresses the gynecological changes that women experience and provides an opportunity to enhance our sexual health.
Vaginal rejuvenation is a treatment to help restore vaginal health. Many women experience less sexual pleasure or suffer pain or embarrassment due to the vagina loosening or the labia losing the firmness of youth. This can be the result of the normal aging process or from the stress of childbirth.
There are multiple laser technologies on the market. The Mona Lisa Touch® is one of the most advanced non-surgical laser technologies that addresses multiple concerns in gynecological health. Mona Lisa Touch® features:
- Non-Surgical procedure – In the comfort of the office the procedure is performed in the office during routine outpatient appointment.
- Convenient Procedure – fits in your schedule the procedure is elective no referral needed and can be scheduled at your convenience.
- Fast simple procedure that you can trust – Laser sessions are less than 5 minutes utilizing clinically proven technology that is embraced by experts in female pelvic health.
- Most patients resume their routine within a few days of the procedure and side effects are typically mild or non-noticeable in most cases.
While Laser vaginal rejuvenation has enhanced sexual gratification and treated stress urinary incontinence for thousands of women across the globe, not every patient is a candidate for this state-of-the-art procedure.
Many women experience vaginal atrophy, dryness, itching or urinary stress problems. Those who would benefit from vaginal rejuvenation:

The MonaLisa Touch® is an in-office procedure performed by experienced physician. The procedure is virtually painless and requires no anesthesia. Some patients may experience some discomfort the first time the probe is inserted, but the actual treatment is not painful.
The procedure is similar to almost any other vaginal rejuvenation procedures. A strong lidocaine based numbing cream will be applied prior to the procedure. This will assure that this is a painless process.
Before the laser is activated, everyone in the room must wear special eye protection which will be provided. The metal wand used will feel cool initially inserted. You will feel a vibrating sensation. You may experience a tingling sensation and or air puffs during the treatment. These may get stronger near the vaginal opening. There might be a slight sizzle sound during the laser pulse. There might be a slight odor from the vaginal tissue being warmed up.
The procedure lasts about 5-10 minutes. An occlusive ointment will be applied after completion of the procedure. A pad will be provided to protect your clothing.
Some women experience a watery discharge or light spotting for a day or two. The vaginal area may feel swollen or full. Do not put anything inside your vagina for 48 hours such as tampons or sexual intercourse.
You will be scheduled for 2 additional treatments 6-weeks apart to complete the recommended protocol to achieve the maximum benefits from the MonaLisa Touch® procedure.
Because of the benefits of vaginal rejuvenation there are multiple laser technologies that have entered the market. Lasers stimulate collagen growth, promoting lubrication and enhanced vaginal tone.
The biggest difference between them is the type of energy used to increase blood flow and promote collagen growth. An example is ThermiVA is a radio frequency device that uses heat to achieve desired outcomes; whereas, the MonaLisa Touch® uses laser energy to administer heat to penetrate vaginal tissue.
